Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to key questions about our UBRs, covering use cases,
connectivity, and deployment benefits

How can your UBRs help me rapidly expand my 4G/5G infrastructure?

Our P2P UBRs provide scalable wireless backhaul designed for high-capacity connectivity. This allows you to rapidly expand your 4G/5G network into new areas without the delays and high costs associated with laying fiber. With features like Plug-and-Play installation, you can achieve quick and seamless setup with minimal manual intervention.

How can your UBRs provide a secure and fast connection for my business?

Our P2P UBRs are optimized for business-critical data, offering secure point-to-point connections to extend your network. We provide robust data protection with AES-256 encryption and support for the latest security standards like WPA3. The radios also have an IP67 rating, ensuring the durability required for secure network expansion in all conditions.

What makes your UBRs suitable for delivering high-speed communication in demanding industrial environments?

Our wireless links are engineered to provide high-speed, reliable communication in the most challenging settings. The radios are IP67 certified, capable of withstanding extreme temperatures from −40∘C to 55∘C and sustained winds up to 180 km/hour. This rugged design ensures continuous, high-speed performance, even in harsh conditions where other technologies would fail.

What deployment and redundancy features does the ion4xle 1 Gbps UBR offer for enhanced network reliability?

The ion4xle 1 Gbps UBR supports Redundant Link Switching, which is a key feature for high-reliability networks. It is designed to support both 1+1 and 2+0 deployments with very little switching time, ensuring minimal service disruption. Additionally, the device comes with an external antenna option, providing flexibility for various link distances and deployment scenarios.

What kind of management and diagnostic features does the ion4xle point to point UBR have to help with network performance?

The ion4xle point to point UBR includes robust management and diagnostic features to help with network performance. It supports the Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP), which enables the measurement of round-trip network performance of your links. This feature, along with the Network Time Protocol (NTP) Client Application for clock synchronization, provides valuable tools for network monitoring and maintenance.

What is backhauling in 5G technology?

5G backhauling is the process of transmitting data from a 5G cell site to the main network core. Unlike previous generations, 5G requires extremely high-capacity and low-latency backhaul links to support new services like augmented reality, IoT, and ultra-high-definition video streaming. Our unlicensed band radios (UBRs) are an ideal, cost-effective solution for 5G backhaul, especially for extending coverage in rural and suburban areas.

What is P2P in telecom?

In telecom, P2P refers to the use of a wireless bridge to create a high-capacity, dedicated connection between two points. It is typically used for a variety of backhaul applications, including connecting cell towers, extending a corporate network, or providing high-speed connectivity to a new building.
